STALKER on sale for those who don't have it. I planned on buying it cheap when I saw it and now I have. Purchased ^_^

LINK

Maybe we should get a Steam sales thread going and just incorporate any worthy sale into one pinned thread. If you like this idea Firewater wave your magic wand and do what you will with this thread.

Yeah I saw this and was going to post as well. Will probably buy the game myself tomorow.

And I was also going to suggest a Steam sales thread. What's that saying, Great minds think alike.

I already bought the game, but I am now wondering if anyone knows how big the download for STALKER is on steam?

I will probably just wait till the end of my current Internet billing period so as to not go over my bandwidth limit.

Netspace. They have a steam content server (GameSpace), but no one ever seems to be able to get anything from it. I have Steam set to GameSpace as my preferred server or whatever. I even blocked Steams access to everything except the GameSpaces server IP at one point and still couldn't get anything from it.

And they apparently make data on PIPE networks unmetered for some users but I have been unable to determine if I qualify for this. But I don't think I do as everything I have downloaded via steam has countered towards my limit.

Just went to launch the game to see where it was downloading from, I got this:

Downloading from Left 4 Dead, haha.

I closed the dialog box and re-opened it, downloading from 3FL (WestNet), it always seems to download from 3FL for me.

Pretty sure Netspace don't do any unmetered traffic whatsoever besides uploads which are not counted ;)

Anything hosted on NetSpace servers is unmetered, for example anything you can find on GameSpace, GameSpace servers (TF2, CoD4, CS:S...), they also mirror files on tucows.com but I've yet to find something I actually want to download off that site.

Yeah it's pretty much only GameSpace which you can request files, so you can get Demo's Patches, Drivers, Mods and such if they don't already have them if they accept your request.

They are not as good as say Internode with unmetered content, but they are a lot cheaper for speed and download limits. I am happy with my current plan, but unmetered Steam would be lush.

Of course, apologies. Pity the gamespace servers (I only play css) are always dead empty :(

I am with Netspace too, on their 8000/384 160GB plan.

could you even use all the 160gb with that connection speed?

plus if you want to force Steam to Download from your ISP go to File>Settings, Then click the downloads tab and select Gamespace as your region :) then it will download from there first, if they have a mirror for the content. and you wont get shafted for the download from your limit :)

i am switching to netspace from node because they will save me $30 a month and i get 30 more gig on what i already get from Node.

Internode are slack at upgrading tassie exchangers.

Yeah I have my 'Download region' set to "Australia - Vic (GameSpace)" but it only acts a preference, it doesn't force steam to download from your selection exclusively.

I and pretty much all netspace customers I have seen posting on Gamespace's own forums and over on Whirlpool can never actually get anything from the Gamespace content server.

The problem is that Valve has all the control on what is on the servers. It seems ridiculous that a host can't dictate what is on a server owned, paid for and maintained by them, but apparently that's they way it is.

But with my limit of 55GB It's not that much of a deal, but unmetered content would be nice.

That was my intention with this but I guess a mod didn't see it :(

I also realized I wasn't able to just change the title and just bump the thread each time a new sale came along. That would be cool.
