he has hacked the protection to the memory only, he still needs to get passed shit loads of protection around the other hardware including access to the BR drive and the encryption codes stored in the PSU. good effort but not really hacked.
well it seems he cant be stuffed trying to do the rest and has put it online for others to continue. I don't think anyone will ever be able to run a pirated PS3 game on the PS3 ever... so they can try and break it all they want.

He certainly has hacked the console. Getting past the memory protection takes a lot of skill and forms the foundation for running future thirdparty software. Eventually, that will probably lead into allowing people to run game backups.
Personally, I can't see why playstation 3's security would be "impregnable". Hackers have been faced with so called "impregnable" security systems before and have still gotten past them. I can't see why this situation will be any different.
Give it time and they will get around it. No security system remains unbreached forever.

Read this article to actually know what he did, some people say it's amazing, i agree with the rest. He has done nothing that SONY didn't let him do. SONY knew this was a possible way in and planned for it.
